Jury Selection
The judge along with defense attorneys and federal prosecutors spent the last half hour talking about what will and will not be allowed before jurors. This is just the first of what will surely be several conversations. The biggest debate was whether jurors would be handed a hard copy of what is said between Edmund Ford and FBI agents/informants on videotape. The video will have subtitles so jurors may read along as the audio is often difficult to make on on these kinds of tapes.
The media has been sardine canned into the back row of the courtroom because there are more than 100 potential jurors and they all need to fit into the courtroom.
In my cramped row are reporters from each TV station as well as the Commercial Appeal and one blogger. One of the stations also has an analyst who will help them break down what’s going on.
It used to be just reporters at these things but that’s been changing lately.
